IntroMy wife works out every morning at a CrossFit gym at 5:30am. For months, the sheer sound of that alarm clock going off at 4 something made me squirm. I'm not a morning person, so even the thought of waking up that early seemed insurmountable in my mind.

IntroThere's nothing better than wrapping up a successful week and having something fun to look forward to on the weekend. The only problem is that eventually the weekend ends, Monday begins, and we're back to the grind.
In today's article, I'm going to share some of my favorite Monday Motivation techniques. I'll vary the mediums so that no matter what your preferences are, there will be something for you. I'm also going to vary the strategies because not everyone appreciates being talked at. By the end, there will be something that catches your eye. It will then be up to you to implement it. Tags:

Getting hurt is the absolute worst. Whether you're a pro or a weekend warrior, getting back on your feet takes time, and the process can be one of self-doubt, frustration, and impatience. On the flip side, anyone that's been through this knows that you'll eventually get better. If I could tell my younger self anything, it would be exactly that: "You're going to get better. Have a positive attitude. Work hard and be patient."
Rather than freaking out, I wanted to provide this mini guide to help you think through your rehab. Of course, not every injury, rehab process, healing time, etc. is the same. Regardless, I like to break the process down into three main areas: 1.Sports rehab techniques 2. Practitioners 3. Resources (mainly books, article, videos, etc.) Having an understanding of these will help ease your anxiety and hopefully provide a more thoughtful (and pleasant) rehab. Happy healing! Tags:
I just returned from a vacation with my family to the Caribbean. Living in Minneapolis, we had two flights to arrive at our final destination in St. Maarten, and all bets were off when traveling with a five and two-year-old. The alarm clock went off at 2:30am, and as any parent knows, when we finally sat down on the plane, Allison and I both looked at each other with a mutual feeling of accomplishment.
Of course, we'd both been on flights when one or both kids melted down for a good part of the ride. About 45 minutes in, however, I looked over, and all 3 (including mom) were out, with mouths wide open. My gut feeling was that I, too, should join them in Slumberland, but then I thought, "it's rare that I get uninterrupted time like this." Tags:
IntroFor those that know me, you know I have a deep-seeded passion for basketball. Even as I get older, I still enjoy playing the game, despite my buddies reminding me that basketball isn't a life sport (I respectfully disagree).
I also really enjoy talent development. In my business career, there's no greater joy than seeing young talent develop and succeed. Put the two together, and you have a theme for today's article. Now, I'm certainly no fortune teller, and success is often a product of opportunity. However, my eyes tell me one thing, and the rest I can't control. Here are 5 players that have stood out in the 2023 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. Note: I'm not going to include anyone on this list that was a 1st round draft pick this year (hence the under the radar designation). Tags:
IntroIf you're on this site and don't know who Steph Curry is, God bless you.
Regardless, I'll give you the 30-second elevator pitch as a refresher. Curry's journey began on March 14, 1988, when he came into this world as Wardell Stephen Curry II. Widely celebrated as one of the basketball greats, and specifically hailed as the NBA's finest shooter ever, Curry's impact on the sport goes beyond records and titles. He's credited with revolutionizing basketball by inspiring teams and players alike to embrace the long-range three-point shot. Hailing from a sports-oriented family, Curry's parents are Dell Curry, a former NBA player, and Sonya Curry, who played volleyball at Virginia Tech. Interestingly, his younger brother, Seth, also follows in his footsteps as an NBA player. While born in Akron, Ohio, Curry spent most of his formative years growing up in Charlotte, North Carolina. During his college days, Curry showcased his exceptional talent while playing for the Davidson Wildcats. He left an indelible mark on the school and the Southern Conference by setting career scoring records. Notably, he earned the title of conference player of the year twice and, during his sophomore year, set an impressive single-season NCAA record for the highest number of three-pointers made. His achievements at the collegiate level foreshadowed the incredible success he would achieve on the professional stage. In the 2009 NBA draft, Curry was selected by the Golden State Warriors as the seventh overall pick. Since then, he's been a nine-time all star, won four NBA championships, and twice been selected as the NBA's Most Valuable Player (MVP). Tags:
IntroWhen I was playing college basketball, one thing my coach talked a lot about was "staying connected to the game." By that, he meant that the experience was a stepping stone for all of us, whether that meant a future in professional basketball, coaching, broadcasting, or a whole host of other sports related activities.
Prior to college, I really hadn't been exposed to many career paths. I could sit here and point fingers at my high school guidance counselor or teachers, but honestly, they were passing on what they knew. One of the goals of this site to create exposure to new ideas. We often look at the "best" books in certain categories, explore the nuances of certain sports, or highlight athlete accomplishments. One thing we've done very little of to date is explore sports careers. And by careers, I mean taking a deep dive at how non-athletes stay connected to the game. Today, I want to focus on a path that's always intrigued me but that I've had little exposure to. By the end of this article, hopefully you and I both will have learned a thing or two about sports photography, while gaining an appreciation for some of the best in the business. Tags:
