I just finished reading the book, Spare, by Prince Harry (ghost-written by J.R. Moehringer). And while this isn't a "sports book" per se, I feel compelled to write about a few takeaways.

There was a great slate of college basketball games on last night: Duke/Michigan State, Marquette/Illinois, and Kentucky/Kansas were just a few I got eyes on. For those that didn't, Duke, Marquette, and Kansas emerged as victors. And while all three teams were impressive, it was interesting to see what these teams are just three games into the season.
Let's take a look at the key takeaways, starting with Duke. Tags:
It was another exciting sports weekend between NCAA and NFL football games, not to mention pretty much every detail being posted from "secret" NCAA basketball scrimmages.
"The scrimmage was a secret, but our point guard scored 40 so we'll talk about it," seemed to be a prominent rationale for programs across the country. Tags:

IntroThe start of the 2023-2024 NBA season is right around the corner, with a double-header scheduled on Tuesday, October 24th, to kick off the season. A lot of has taken place since the conclusion of last year: new coaches, the NBA Draft, and a few blockbuster trades. There have also been some rule changes to prohibit players from resting too much during the regular season. Changes aside, what really matters in pro sports is winning, and today we're going to discuss who I believe will win the next NBA title.

IntroI just finished reading Hunting the Caliphate by Dana J.H. Pittard and Wes J. Bryant. While this book isn't about sports per se, I've always found a lot of similarities between sports and the military: the teamwork required to succeed, the hard work that everyone involved puts in, and the constant evaluation of strategy to be in a position to win.

IntroTeams from the youth level all the way to the professional ranks are reading books together. Business teams are reading books together. Church groups: reading together.
While I love to read alone, there's a certain energy that comes with a book discussion. You and I may read the same chapter and have completely different thoughts or reactions. Reading in itself produces ideas, but just imagine the magnitude of ideas that come from a product group book discussion. Today, I'm going to recommend several books to read as a team. I'm going to steer clear of sport-specific books so that this list is applicable to a wider audience. Tags:
IntroI grew up collecting trading cards like everyone else in my small town. Buddies and I would trade cards, open packs in search of that rare rookie card, and ride our bikes to the local card shop. It was a fun, cheap, and safe hobby that we enjoyed (and our parents approved).
While Beckett and other companies were wise to go digital, there was something about having a physical guide in your hands that made what I was doing feel valuable. Hell, there may not have been a buyer within a 500-mile radius of where I lived, but if that guide said a card had value, that's all that I cared about. While I still have some cards that are worth some money, they feel like an heirloom to me: something that almost needs to be passed down. Today, we explore books focused on sports cards. I'll leave the guides out of the discussion and shift the focus more to books that can either add value to your collecting strategy or entertain you (or both). Tags:
IntroFeeling cheated is one of the worst things a person can feel, especially if you've gone to great lengths to prepare. At the height of competitive sports, unfortunately, the need to win has overshadowed fair play far longer than it should have. In fact, doping in sports still exists, albeit far less than in the past.
With world class labs and protocols in place, most global sports governing bodies have gone to great lengths to "clean up" their competitions. Yet, it's almost become commonplace to see a doping scandal on the news. Today, we take a look at some of the biggest doping scandals in sports history, the books that were written, and the aftershocks felt in these sports as a result. Tags:
IntroHow many of you have been to a youth game where the most talented player on the floor/field struts around like he/she is the greatest thing since sliced bread?
What about when that player gets benched and hangs their head, pouts, and makes it visibly obvious that they're upset? Today, I'm going to explain why your body language is so incredibly important to not only yourself, but to your team's ultimate success. Tags:
