Basketball Gift IdeasI love to give gifts. It makes me happy, and I take pride in finding just the right gift. To get there, though, often requires some digging. You're trying to anticipate what might make someone's day based on their interests. Simply asking them what they'd like is practical but a bit of a cop out. So, what makes it easier? Hopefully, it's posts like this one. Not all of us can afford to buy a new pair of Air Jordans and call it a day. For books specifically, I've aimed to compile several ideas below that are specific in their use case. As you read this, my goal is for you to say, "This is it! The perfect gift!" Happy hunting! The Best Basketball Gift Idea for the Coffee TableWhy? Mamba Mentality isn't written like a normal book. Each two-page spread is its own theme. This not a book that's meant to be read cover to cover but rather paged through, picked up when you need some motivation, or the perfect source for some friendly sports debate. Less words and lots of pictures make this the perfect fit for the coffee table. The Best Basketball Gift for the NBA FanWhy? Giannis has taken the NBA by storm, but his journey is incredibly unique and inspiring. Looking at pictures from his rookie year, I don't think any fan could've predicted the rise from "unknown draft pick" to NBA champion. Whether you're a fan or not, it's hard not to appreciate the humble beginnings, foreign roots, and teen years that were so different than most American teens playing in today's AAU circuit. The Best Basketball Gift for Middle SchoolersWhy? This was a tough pick, not because Crossover isn't great but because there are a lot of good books in this category. For every eleven or twelve year-old that dreams of being a rapper and an athlete, this book is the perfect mix of both. The Best Basketball Gift for the High Schooler That Wants to Play College BasketballOk, I'm biased. However, if you have a serious athlete in the house that wants an unfiltered look at the rigors of college basketball, check it out! Why? Ottaway writes a similar book as I did, detailing her experiences as a Division 1 basketball player at Davidson college. Ottaways dives into to some deep subjects about the challenges specifically around being a female basketball player, including topics such as self-expression, body image, and sexuality. The Best Basketball Gift for Your Basketball CoachWhy? Coach K is one of the best basketball coaches ever, and while this book is a few years old, it's as relevant today as its ever been. Coaching is about so many things that extend beyond the court, and K's ideas about mentorship, ownership, teamwork, and accountability are a great reminder to anyone tasked to lead a group of people.
